Taking the First Steps: From Active Addiction to Active Recovery
Just because you’re addicted doesn’t mean you have to stay addicted. There are tools, there are programs, there is a way out. I’m here to help you
Whether it’s a line, a pill, a bottle, porn or an online game is irrelevant. Whatever form the substance of abuse comes in, the result is always the same in the end… pain. Pain, isolation and destruction. Becoming a cycle that repeats itself again and again. Sometimes it feels as though there is no way out.
You’ve tried different ways to control it or get a handle on it, but it hasn’t worked. Maybe you’ve even tried stopping, but just couldn’t. Or maybe you managed to stop for a while, but for some reason you seem to keep going back.

Addiction is not a choice, nor is it a sign of weakness of character or a lack of moral fibre. Addiction can be seen as an illness and has been recognised as such by medical associations, the world over. Yes, we made the choice to experiment, be it with drugs, alcohol, porn or internet gaming, but we didn’t choose to become addicted. There are genetic, psychological, social and environmental factors at play behind the scenes and each of these areas requires healing.
Addiction has been described as being ‘cunning, baffling and powerful.’ That much is true. I’ve been there myself. I was trapped in that cycle for many years. I found a way out and I now live a fulfilling life in recovery. I know it is possible for you too. I’ve dedicated much of the last 16 years of my life in recovery to understanding addiction and to working with those struggling with it. I became certified as an addiction counsellor and life coach to help those stuck in the cycle. A happy and contented life without the use of addictive substances or destructive behaviours can be your new reality. Recovery is possible.
